Murder inquiry begins in Limerick

Gardaí have commenced a murder inquiry after the body of a man was discovered in a house in Limerick city.

James Boyce (71) was found dead in his home at St Munchin’s Street in St Mary’s Park estate last night.

Gardaí are treating his death as suspicious.

The State Pathologist Marie Cassidy was called to the scene earlier today. Mr Boyce's home was also examined by forensic officers from the Garda Technical Bureau.

A post mortem examination was conducted on Mr Boyce's remains at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick. The results have not been released for operational reasons.
