Gardaí have launched a murder inquiry following the discovery of a man’s body in the back garden of a house in Swords, Co Dublin, yesterday.

The body of 40-year-old Mr Kevin French was discovered in the garden of a house at Abbeylea Green yesterday morning.

Mr French, originally from Newcastle-on-Tyen, England, had been living in the area for less than a year.

Last night, the State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, carried out a full post-mortem at the James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown.

The examination revealed the man had a fractured skull, indicating he had received a number of blows to the head. Mr French also suffered internal bleeding.

It is thought he incurred injuries to his hands and arms as he tried to protect himself from an attacker.
