Gardai have launched a murder investigation in Limerick following the death early today of an 18-year-old man in a house on the northside of the city.

It is believed Edward Cully was stabbed to death after a row broke out at a house in Merville Crescent, in the Caherdavin area of Limerick shortly after 5 a.m.

Gardai say Mr Cully's death was unconnected with the ongoing family feud in the city.

A 19-year-old man of was arrested under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act and remains in custody in the Henry St garda station.
