TWO Drimoleague men who were charged last Friday with murdering their mother have been remanded on bail to Bantry District Court on September 27th.
Mr Ray Hennessy, defending, succeeded in his application to have the two men, Mr Kieran O'Brien (20) and Mr Noel O'Brien (19), of High Street, Drimoleague, west Cork, released on bail.
At Skibbereen District Court yesterday, both defendants entered into their own recognisance of £500. An independent surety of £10,000 each was provided by a local businessman.
The brothers were charged at Bandon District Court last Friday with murdering their mother, Julia O'Brien, in their home on December 24th, 1995.
Mr Hennessy told the court the pair had agreed to report once a week to Drimoleague Garda station.
The State solicitor, Mr Malachy Boohig, told the court they hoped to serve the Book of Evidence at the Bantry sitting on September 27th.
