Munster 51 Harlequins 17
Munster put their defeat to Leinster in the Celtic League final behind them with a comprehensive European Cup victory over English side Harlequins at Thomond Park. Munster now qualify for the quarterfinals of the competition.
They ran in six tries and the result was never in question from the 50th minute onwards. Twice Harlequins threatened to creep into the game – just before and just after half-time – and twice Munster responded with scores to take the steam out of the ‘Quins’ challenge and scored 25 unanswered points in the last half-hour.
If, as expected, Castres beat Bridgend this evening then, Munster’s match away to Castres next Saturday becomes vital – the winner will be guaranteed home advantage for the quarterfinals.
