THE MOTHER of Charlotte and Linda Mulhall, who were convicted of the murder and manslaughter respectively of her boyfriend, appeared in court yesterday to face nine new charges in connection with the murder.

Kathleen Mulhall, whose Kenyan partner was killed by her daughters in her Dublin home, was charged at Dublin District Court. Fareh Swaleh Noor's dismembered remains were recovered from the Royal Canal in Dublin in 2005.

Ms Mulhall, St Mary's Park, Carlow, was charged with withholding information, helping to clean up the crime scene, five counts of giving false information over Mr Noor's whereabouts, and two counts of pretending she did not know his whereabouts.

The 52-year-old was previously charged with acting with intent to impede the apprehension or prosecution of her daughters. Ms Mulhall was remanded in custody until March 25th, when she is due to reappear before the court.

Her daughters have already been convicted of killing Mr Noor on March 21st, 2005, at Richmond Cottages, Ballybough, in Dublin's north inner city.

In December 2006, 25-year-old Charlotte was jailed for life for murder. Earlier this month she lost an appeal against her conviction. Linda, 32, was jailed for 15 years for manslaughter. She recently won her appeal against the length of her term on grounds she was sentenced without the trial judge first seeing her probation and psychological reports.

At their trial in the Central Criminal Court, the jury heard the sisters had been drinking heavily in the city centre and taken ecstasy on the day of the killing.

The sisters claimed Mr Noor made a pass at Linda before Charlotte slit his throat while Linda bludgeoned him over the head with a hammer. They took his body to their mother's bathroom and cut it up before dumping it.

Ms Mulhall had been sharing her home with Mr Noor up to his death. She then moved to the UK where she was met by Irish detectives last month and returned home voluntarily. - (PA)
