Harare - President Robert Mugabe yesterday ordered an end to farm violence in Zimbabwe and announced the creation of a commission made up of government officials, war veterans and white farmers to redistribute white farmland to blacks.
Mr Mugabe made the announcement after meeting representatives of 4,500 white farmers and black "veterans" of the country's independence war who have occupied farms.
"They [the war veterans] should not disturb the farmers. They should not touch the property at all. They should be as peaceful as possible and not disturb the day-to-day activities and operations of the farm. . . .no violence," the President told reporters.
