An investigation has been launched into the death of a 23-year-old man who died shortly after being found unconscious in his cell in Mountjoy prison.
The man, who was from west Dublin, was found unconscious in his cell at 9.40am this morning.
He was given medical attention before being transferred to the Mater Hospital, but he was pronounced dead at 10.25am.
A Prison Service spokesman said a full post mortem exam would be carried out, along with toxicology tests, to determine the cause of death. Governor John Lonergan will also carry out an investigation.
