The death of a mother of two led to the resurfacing of a Westmeath road where a number of incidents had previously occurred.
The inquest into the death of Ruth Houlihan (39), of Ballyhealy, Delvin, who died at nearby Robinstown, heard conditions on the road were above national standards when the incident happened on February 22nd last year. However, there had been a large number of non-fatal incidents on the twisting bends of the N52 in the area.
Westmeath Coroner’s Court was told warning signs were erected after the incident, and the council surveyed the road and resurfaced it.
