Russian investigators today said the suicide bomber who killed at least 35 people at Moscow's major international airport on January 24th was a native (20) of the North Caucasus, news agencies reported.
Investigative committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said the bomber's identity had been determined but
would not be released as the overall investigation continues.
The bomber's name is known, but won't be released yet because investigators are searching for the organisers of the bombing, the Investigative Committee of the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement on its website today.
"The terrorist act was first of all targeted at foreign citizens," the committee said in the statement. Nobody has claimed responsibility for the bombing in the arrivals halls of Russia's busiest airport and officials haven't said publicly who they think planned it.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on January 26th that preliminary evidence showed no link between Chechnya and the Domodedovo attack.
