Detectives investigating the murder of Northern Ireland solicitor Rosemary Nelson have been given permission to continue questioning three women, Norfolk police said today.

Magistrates granted a warrant of further detention of the woman and two daughters, police said.

The three, who were arrested in Camborne, Cornwall on Wednesday, appeared at Bow Street Magistrates' Court in London yesterday.

A warrant was granted under the Terrorism Act allowing officers to question them for another 48 hours.

The three women, aged 51, 24 and 26, are originally from Portadown in Co Armagh but are understood to have been living in England for the past year.

Ms Nelson (40) a mother of three, was killed by a loyalist booby-trap blast under her car outside her home in Lurgan in Co Armagh in March 1999.

Nobody has been charged with her murder.

The three women were among several people interviewed by the inquiry team headed by a senior detective from Britain Mr Colin Port.
