Washington - Senator Joseph Lieberman, a moderate Democrat from Connecticut, harshly rebuked President Clinton yesterday for his "immoral" behaviour in the Monica Lewinsky scandal, opening the door for a new wave of criticism of the president from within his own party.
Senator Lieberman's speech on the Senate floor had been widely anticipated, with many political analysts expecting him to call for the Senate to formally censure Mr Clinton. Instead Mr Lieberman gave what he called a speech filled with personal pain and disappointment.
