The Dublin woman, Ms Elaine Moore (21), remains in Holloway Women's prison in London this morning after attempts by her family and legal team yesterday failed to secure her release.
She could be released later this morning if the magistrate, Mr David Cooper, is assured by police that a property in north London which has been pledged as a £20,000 bail surety for Ms Moore is acceptable. Yesterday Mr Cooper was not satisfied that there was a £20,000 difference between the valuation and the mortgage due.
If the surety is not acceptable Ms Moore, who is a Category A prisoner, will remain in prison until Tuesday, or until a court hearing next Thursday if further problems arise.
Last night Ms Moore's mother, Ms Cathy Moore said she could not understand the magistrate's difficulty with the third surety: "My attitude is one of just total bewilderment. I am now convinced there is no way we can get anywhere with this particular judge."
Ms Moore, who is originally from Coolock, Dublin, is facing charges of conspiracy to cause explosions and possession of explosives following a police search of her flat in Hampstead, north London, on July 10th. Three other men, Mr Darren Mulholland (19), from Dundalk, Co Louth, Mr Liam Patrick Grogan (21), from Naas, Co Kildare, and Mr Anthony Hyland, with no address given, are also charged with conspiracy to cause explosions. Mr Grogan, Mr Hyland and Ms Moore face the additional charge of possession of explosives.
Ms Moore was returned to prison on Thursday when £40,000 in sureties was rejected at Belmarsh Magistrates Court because the property pledged was based in Northern Ireland and not London and one of the guarantors was on holiday in America.
