The brother and daughter of missing Waterford women Margaret (Meg) Walsh have made an appeal for anyone with information on her whereabouts to come forward.

"We would dearly love to have our sister, and Sasha's mum, back with us," said James Walsh. "This situation is like a horror show. How anyone could hurt Meg is way beyond our belief."

Ms Walsh returned to her home in Ballinakill Downs in Waterford from a nearby hotel in the early hours of October 1st and had not been seen since.

Ms Walsh's car was found in a carpark close to the Uluru bar and restaurant on the southern outskirts of Waterford city on October 4th.

"In the absence of any contact we can only assume that something has happened to her," said Mr Walsh. "At this stage we are appealing to any person or person that knows of Meg's whereabouts to let us know where she is."

"All we can say is please, please let us know where she is, we are desperate to find Meg. She is so important to both of us so please call the Gardai, speak to Father Murphy or any priest or ourselves and point us in the right direction."

Ms Walsh is married but has a 17-year-old daughter Sasha Keating from a previous relationship.

Ms Keating said she last met her mother on Monday the 18th of September having spend the weekend with her. She said her mother did not appear to be unhappy about anything.

"She was always happy and a very confident woman," said Ms Keating.

Hundreds of people have turned out to search for Ms Walsh in recent days in what gardaí described as the biggest search operation for a missing person ever mounted in the southeast.

James Walsh said his family were heartened by the large turnout of volunteers.

"We are absolutely shell-shocked and over-whelmed with people's generosity," said Mr Walsh. "We know a lot of people are giving up their free time to search for Meg and we'd like to thank them for it."
