The President, Mrs McAleese, brought the house down with a very human story at the recent dinner of the Queen's University alumni at the Westbury Hotel, Dublin. The guest of honour told how as a student she had gone to a GAA match in Dublin between Queen's and UCD, in which her husband Martin was playing. She disasgreed with a decision and ran on to the field to hit the referee with her umbrella. On the way home on the coach she was voted Man of the Match.
