Belgrade - The opposition-dominated Belgrade City Council yesterday called on the Yugoslav President, Mr Slobodan Milosevic, to resign "in the interest of Belgrade and all of Serbia", the independent news agency Beta reported. The council also urged the Yugoslav parliament to start an initiative for Mr Milosevic's dismissal, the agency said.
Under the Yugoslav constitution, the federal president is elected by the Yugoslav parliament, controlled by Mr Milosevic's Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS).
