The trial of Slobodan Milosevic will be adjourned at least until Friday as the former Yugoslav president has fallen ill with the flu.
A spokesman for the UN war crimes tribunal in the Hague said Mr Milosevic would be kept under close supervision and receive "all the necessary medical treatment".
Medical reports made public in August 2002 revealed that the wartime Serb leader has high blood pressure and is at risk of a heart attack. His poor health has already caused the trial to be interrupted several times.
The case against him resumed on January 9th after a three-week Christmas and New Year break. The former Yugoslav president looked pale and appeared to have lost weight.
Milosevic has been on trial since February 2002 for his role in the wars in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo of the 1990s. He is charged with over 60 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
