London - Prince Edward's marriage to Ms Sophie RhysJones will be broadcast live around the world to a potential audience of several hundred million people.
It is unlikely however to generate the enthusiasm for the wedding in 1981 of Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, and Diana Spencer.
Coverage in Britain is assured by all the main channels. The BBC will have 50 cameras in St George's Chapel, in the grounds of Windsor Castle and in the town of Windsor itself, west of London.
Sixteen cameras alone will cover the event inside the chapel.
