MR Michael O'Kennedy called on the Government to probe whether the British secret service was involved in promoting the American tour of disillusioned IRA activist, Mr Sean O'Callaghan.
It was clear that the visit was calculated to denigrate Sinn Fein political representatives and to ensure that they could not play aid part in a meaningful peace process in the event of a permanent IRA ceasefire, claimed Mr O'Kennedy.
The leader of the House should inquire if MI5 had had any part in setting up Mr O'Callaghan's visit, which would further undermine prospects for peace here.
