A severe weather warning has been issued across Ireland today with storm force winds expected to batter the country tonight.
Met Éireann said gusts of up to 170 km/h have been forecast as an intense Atlantic storm crosses the country.
Heavy rain and high seas are also expected to lead to flooding in some areas. Flood warnings will be in operation in parts of Dublin city from 11pm tonight to 2am on Monday.
Dublin City Council said a number of precautionary flood relief measures, including sand bags, have been put in place at key locations in Sandymount, Ringsend and Clontarf.
The Liffey Boardwalk and a number of roads around the capital will also be closed during high tides.
Forecasters said residents could expect hail, thunder and sleet throughout the day with the weather becoming very wet and very windy this evening.
It will be extremely windy or stormy tomorrow evening, with conditions clearing on Tuesday afternoon.
