Two men appeared in court in Derry yesterday on charges arising from disturbances in the city-centre during Saturday's Apprentice Boys parade.
Kenneth Stanley Allen (38), a father of five from Orkney Drive in Ballymena, pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly behaviour and of assaulting a police officer.
Allen, an area manager with a lighting firm, was fined £250 and given a conditional discharge for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £250 to the police officer.
Gary Ferguson (29), an unemployed man from Ardrossan in Scotland, admitted throwing a bottle towards a crowd outside the Foyleside shopping centre. He was fined £200 and given a four-month jail sentence, suspended for three years.
