THREE men have appeared in court accused of setting up a meeting between journalists and an illegal organisation.

THREE men have appeared in court accused of setting up a meeting between journalists and an illegal organisation.

Mr Stephen Lunn (35), of Jubilee Park, and Mr George Milliken (27), of Lynn Crescent, Dromore, Co Down, and Mr Alexander Kerr (35), of Deramore Park, Portadown, Co Armagh, appeared separately at a special court in Banbridge RUC station on Saturday.

They were charged with "arranging or assisting in the arrangement of a meeting to support a proscribed organisation or to further the activities of such an organisation".

An RUC detective said Mr Milliken was stopped in a car, near Hillsborough last Wednesday along with several journalists, and a search of the car uncovered film footage from a camera.

Mr Lunn and Mr Kerr were also stopped and a replica MP5 sub machinegun was found in their car.

The detective said that when charged, Mr Milliken said "no while Mr Lunn, an unemployed taxi driver, and Mr Kerr, an unemployed glazier, made no reply. All three were remanded in custody until September 11th.
