Two men have appeared in court charged with an attempted armed robbery in Dublin this week.

Staff at the Bullion Room gold wholesaler were tied up during the attempted armed robbery on Bolton Street on Tuesday morning. However, the alarm was activated, alerting the Garda.

The workers in the shop were not injured during the incident and nothing was stolen from the site.

Two men were detained at Bridewell Garda station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 after gardaí arrested them at the scene.

Ian Jordan (31), of Lanesborough Gardens, Finglas, Dublin and Aidan Murphy (31) with an address at St Fanahan’s Place, Mitchelstown, Co Cork, were charged at Dublin District Court this morning with two counts of false imprisonment of staff members Sharna Ragonesi and Pattabhi Ram.

They were also charged with attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit a robbery.

The court heard they men made no reply when charged this morning at the Bridewell Garda station.

There was no application for bail and Judge John O’Neill remanded the men in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court next Thursday.
