Unions and ESB management are to attend a meeting of the Joint Industrial Council tomorrow to try to resolve the dispute which threatens to close Ferbane power station. The dispute, over a refusal by three instrumentation technicians to co-operate with new work practices, could see the loss of 114 jobs at the plant and more than 200 in Bord na Mona, which supplies peat to the plant.
The ESB board is expected to endorse a management recommendation to close Ferbane if the dispute is not resolved by the time it meets on October 16th.
