Scotland's Colin McRae, driving a Ford Focus WRC, today won the Acropolis Rally, the seventh round of the world championship, for the third consecutive time.

McRae came in ahead of Finland's Marcus Gronholm in a Peugeot 206 WRC and Spaniard Carlos Sainz, in a Ford Focus WRC, for his first victory since winning this event last year.

McRae also joins Sainz and Finland's Tommi Makinen, whose Subaru crashed out on Saturday, on the record of 24 victories.

Gronholm holds the overall championship lead with a 14-point margin over Sainz, followed by McRae and French Peugeot driver Gilles Panizzi, both 17 points behind the leader.
