The trial date of the suspected leader of the "Real IRA", Mr Michael McKevitt, has been set for February 11th next year.
The trial of Mr McKevitt (51) on charges of directing terrorism will be heard in the Special Criminal Court in Dublin. The court remanded Mr Mc Kevitt in custody until the trial.
Last month, the court refused an application by Mr McKevitt for further disclosure of documents in advance of his trial. His lawyers were seeking an order from the court for further disclosure of material in the possession of the FBI and the British Security Service relating to the chief prosecution witness, Mr David Rupert.
Mr Rupert is a US citizen who allegedly attended several "Real IRA" army council meetings at which Mr McKevitt was present.
The defence alleges Mr Rupert is "a person of bad character" who "constantly acted in a criminal, corrupt and venal way".
Mr McKevitt of Beech Park, Blackrock, Dundalk, Co Louth, is faces charges that between August 29th, 1999, and March 28th, 2001, within the State, he was a member of an unlawful organisation styling itself the Irish Republican Army, otherwise the IRA, otherwise Óglaigh na hÉireann, and that he directed the activities of the same organisation.
He is the first person to be charged with directing terrorism in the Republic.
