Paddy McCourt scored against his former side to give Derry City a 1-0 win over Shamrock Rovers at the Brandywell this evening.
The strike was a timely boost for Pat Fenlon's side who had lost four of their first nine league games. McCourt, a fans' favourite during his brief spell with the Dublin side, scored the only goal of the gane after 13 minutes. Derry move from eight spot in the table to sixth, level on points with Rovers who remain fifth. Both sides are nine points off leaders St Patrick's Athletic.
