Down forward Gregory McCartan and Kildare's Alan Barry have had bans upheld, after both received red cards last weekend, and will now miss their respective matches in the All -Ireland senior football qualifiers today.
The news was given to the players by the GAC at Croke Park last night.
Barry, who was sent off after just four minutes in Kildare's defeat to Laois in the Leinster final last weekend, will now be unavailable for selection for their clash with Roscommon in Portlaoise at 18.15 this evening.
However the Lilywhites are expected to welcome back former All-start Dermot Earley after Down, minus McCartan, take on Donegal in Clones at 16.15.
