Ireland's latest goal hero, Jason McAteer, may not be appreciated by Blackburn Rovers but the player's agent today revealed that at least four other clubs are chasing the midfielder.
Speaking to ireland.comDave Lockwood said: "There's one Spanish club and one Italian club who are interested in taking him on a long-term loan deal while two Premier League clubs are inquiring about buying him outright.
Lockwood, however, denied that Newcastle were one of the two English clubs: "I spoke to Newcastle on Monday to see if there was anything in those stories but was told that they're not at all true.
"Nor is there any truth in rumours that a certain Scottish club are after him - although he does look particularly good in green."
McAteer's contract with Blackburn doesn't expire until June 2003 but the club have made it known he doesn't figure in their future plans while the player has made it equally clear he wants to leave to get regular first team football.
McAteer will appear on RTE's The Late Late show this Friday night.
