AN IRISHMAN found guilty of killing his wife while on holiday in a Spanish resort has been ordered to return to Spain to serve his sentence.
Dermot McArdle, who had been convicted by a Spanish court of the manslaughter of his wife, Kelly Ann Corcoran (29), had initially been allowed to return home to Dundalk pending the outcome of an appeal.
With that process now over, it is understood a judge has instructed him to return to start his two-year jail term.
Ms Corcoran fell from the balcony of a hotel in Marbella 10 years ago during a violent row with her husband.
A jury found him guilty of manslaughter after a week-long trial in October 2008.
As well as the jail sentence, McArdle was ordered to pay €220,000 compensation to Ms Corcoran’s family and to the couple’s two sons. – (PA)
