Johannesburg - The chief proponents and opponents of the theory that the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) causes AIDS will meet behind closed doors here today at the invitation of the South African President, Mr Thabo Mbeki, who wants them to find an answer to the epidemic in Africa.
Mr Mbeki, who has angered many with his willingness to listen to AIDS dissidents, has seated the best known of them all, Californian biologist Dr Peter Duesberg, on the same panel of 33 advisers as Dr Luc Montagnier, who discovered HIV.
