The new Dublin Docklands Authority is to begin work on May 1st the Minister for the Environment, Mr Howlin, has announced. On its establishment, the new body will assume the functions of the Custom House Docks Development Authority (CHDDA). The CHDDA board's term of office, due to expire on Monday, has been extended to April 30th.

The new authority's main objective will be to secure the comprehensive regeneration of Dublin's docklands, extending over 1,300 acres, and for the continued development of the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC).
