Los Angeles - The alleged mass murderer and sex torturer, Mr Charles Chi tat Ng (37), finally went on trial for his life in a California court yesterday after successfully delaying his case for 13 years at a cost of more than $10 million .
Mr Ng was charged in 1985 with murdering and torturing 12 people whose charred bones were found buried behind a cabin in the woods near the village of Wilseyville in north California. Mr Leonard Lake, a "survivalist" who believed he would breed a new race from captive female "sex slaves" after a nuclear holocaust, was his alleged partner in a total of 25 suspected killings - two of them babies. Mr Lake committed suicide by swallowing a cyanide pill when police arrested him.
