LONDON - The man who hunted down most of the most notorious serial murderers in the US yesterday suggested a profile of the Dunblane killer.
Former FBI agent John Douglas, the inspiration for film character Jack Crawford in the Silence of the Lambs, told ITV's This Morning programme: "He was mission orientated. He programmed himself to carry out this act and also didn't care if he lived or died."
"Typically, a person like this commits suicide after the murder, or commits `suicide by cop', where they want to be taken out by a cop."
Mr Douglas was earlier reported to have said that the typical "multiple killer" was "usually an inadequate nobody" and added: "But when he is killing he feels that for once in his life he can be in control".
