Japan's Shigeki Maruyama moved closer to his second PGA Tour title after increasing his lead to three shots through gusting winds at the Byron Nelson Classic in Irving, Texas.

Maruyama worked through the TPC Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas in two-under-par 68, bringing his total to 12-under 198, three strokes better than Cameron Beckman.

The always smiling Maruyama claimed his first PGA Tour win last year in Milwaukee. He has a pair of top-10 finishes in his last seven starts and 17 in 90 PGA Tour appearances.

Beckman made one of the day's biggest moves, carding a 66 to jump from 14th to second with a nine-under 201 total. His only win in 96 previous PGA Tour starts came last year at the lightly regarded Southern Farm Bureau Classic.

Phil Mickelson was within two shots of the lead before playing his final three holes in three-over. He signed for a 71 and is tied for eighth on 204.

Four others are seven strokes off the pace on 205, including Tiger Woods, who shot 69.
