Manchester United have suspended head of security Ned Kelly from all work with the club while they investigate allegations of ticket touting.
Greater Manchester Police are looking into claims Kelly, whose company Special Projects Security is responsible for security and stewarding at United, sold tickets and corporate boxes at vastly-inflated prices.
A spokesman for United said: "Ned Kelly has been removed from all operational activities on behalf of Manchester United, pending the outcome of an internal club inquiry.
"Separately, Greater Manchester Police are involved in an investigation of the alleged ticket-touting reported in the Sunday Mirrorarticle."
The police have been liaising with United, and a spokeswoman confirmed they are looking into the claims against Kelly.
"Greater Manchester Police are aware of the allegations made by certain newspaper reports," she said.
"We have been in touch with Manchester United Football Club and are looking into this matter."
The former SAS man has become a familiar face at Old Trafford in recent years and has acted as bodyguard for Eric Cantona, Beckham and United's other top stars.
