A man who fired on mourners at a funeral on New Year's Day has been released from custody in Sundrive Road Garda Station, Dublin.
The man, believed to be in his early 20s, was initially involved in a dispute at the funeral Mass for a man who died in Garda custody in Kilmainham recently. He went to the cemetery afterwards when the man was being buried and fired on graveside mourners.
Gardaí confirmed they were called to Mount Jerome Cemetery on New Year's Day after a shot was fired. They arrested a man armed with a handgun and detained him under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
The man was released without charge and a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
