A BELFAST man wanted for extradition to Germany on charges connected with an IRA mortar attack on a British army barracks there last June was remanded in custody until tomorrow at a Dublin court yesterday.
Mr James Anthony Oliver Albert Corry (28), of Hillman Street, Belfast, was remanded in custody until tomorrow by Judge Peter Smithwick at a sitting of Dublin District Court at Green Street.
Mr Corry was arrested on a provisional warrant from Germany seeking his extradition. The warrant related to allegedly causing explosions in Germany around the end of June this year and to the alleged attempted murder of British soldiers stationed in Germany.
An Assistant State Solicitor, Mr Frank Cassidy, told the court yesterday that the full extradition request from Germany had now been received by the Department of Foreign Affairs and has been dispatched to the appropriate state authorities.
He applied for a remand until tomorrow and said he expected to have the matter finalised by then.
A triple mortar attack was launched on June 28th on the Quebec barracks of the British army in Osnabruck.
The mortars were fired from a flat backed Ford Transit lorry. Only one exploded. No one was injured.
German police said a five member IRA unit was involved, three men and two women.
