Man to swim Holyhead to Dublin for charity

A Dublin man is to swim from the Holyhead in Wales to Dublin to raise money for charity.

Mr Feilim O'Maolain is to attempt the world first raise the funds for the Capuchin Day Centre, which provides food the homeless of Dublin's inner city.

If successful, Mr O'Maolain will be the first person to swim the 56 miles, a task that will take up to 40 hours and will be undertaken without fins or wetsuit.

Mr O'Maolain will be accompanied by a 30-foot boat but he cannot touch it or anyone on it at any time.

Speaking today at the official announcement today Mr O'Maolain said:

"It has been a dream of mine for several years... I can think of no more deserving cause than the plight of the homeless in Dublin as I live close to the Capuchin Day Centre".
