Gardai are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man's body in a house in Macroom this morning.
The body of the man, thought to be Irish and in his early forties, was discovered in the Masseytown area of the Co Cork town.
Gardai have cordoned off the scene for prelimary examination by forensic staff and it is understood that Assistant State Pathologist Margaret Bolster is on her way to the scene.
Gardai say the results of the post mortem carried by Ms Bolster will determine the future course of their investigation.
