Judge James McDonnell remanded him in Cloverhill Prison to appear in court again next Tuesday at 10.30am.

Ms McCarthy was sitting in a car parked outside a house on Brookview Way, Tallaght with three men when a black SUV pulled alongside and one of the occupants opened fire, fatally wounding the teenager in the head. Her friends drove her to Tallaght hospital, but she was pronounced dead at 1am.

The funeral of the murdered teenager was held in London on Friday last and was attended by several hundred people.

The accused and a 17-year-old male were arrested on Thursday in Athy, Co Kildare following a raid on an apartment.

A teenager, who was also being questioned in connection with the murder investigation, was brought before the court on separate charges including drugs and guns offences.

The youth, who cannot be named due to his age, pleaded guilty at a previous court hearing to unconnected charges of possession of heroin. He is due to be sentenced next week.

The teenager, who has also been remanded in custody, faced further charges at this evening's court sitting of possession of a shotgun and possession of shotgun cartridges.
