A man arrested in connection with the murder of a 15-year-old schoolboy who was stabbed as he walked home after a trip to buy sweets was last night released without charge.

Officers investigating the murder of Thomas Devlin detained the man on Saturday but police confirmed he had been released after questioning.

The teenager was stabbed five times in the back as he walked home in north Belfast with two friends. One of Thomas's friends was also injured by a single stab wound when they were approached by two males, believed to be in their late teens or early 20s.

The PSNI want to speak to two teenagers who were in the vicinity of the Fort William service station a short time before Thomas was attacked.

The pair were in the area, possibly with two other youths, at about 11pm on August 10th.

It is understood the youths were not suspects but may have information that could advance the inquiry.
