A bachelor sobbed yesterday as a court heard about indecent material involving young girls which was found when customs officers raided his home.
Mr Norman David Irwin (39), a housing executive official in Cookstown, Co Tyrone, was charged at Belfast Magistrates' Court with illegally importing indecent or obscene material.
Mr Irwin, of Kiltyclay Road, Sandholes, Cookstown, was arrested last week following the seizure of computer disks containing indecent and obscene material which had been posted to him from the United States.
Mr Matt Bishop, a customs officer, said a subsequent search of Mr Irwin's home revealed a large quantity of material in different formats including video disks, floppy disks, digital video disks, CD ROMs and printed material.
The magistrate released Mr Irwin on his own bail of £500 with a surety of £750 and directed that he report to Cookstown RUC once a week and continue to undergo counselling.
