A Co Cavan farmer charged with firearms and explosives offences has been freed on £22,000 bail by the Special Criminal Court. Mr John Carolan (56), of Greaghnadarragh, Mullagh, was charged on Tuesday with eight offences alleging that he had six Luger pistols, an AKM assault rifle and ammunition with intent to endanger life or to enable another person to endanger life at his home on March 10th last year. He was also charged with having the guns and ammunition for an unlawful purpose on the same date. Further charges allege that Mr Carolan had under his control mortar components, including a warhead, detonator, tail fin, launch tube and fusing units with intent to endanger life and for an unlawful purpose at Greaghnadarragh on March 10th last year.
