A MAN in his 30s died when the car he was driving was in collision with a lorry on the Dingle to anascaul Road in Co Kerry yesterday evening.

It is understood the dead man was living in the west Kerry area for some time, but was not originally from there. He died at the scene.

The incident occurred near Lispole shortly before 5pm.

A woman passenger in the car, who is also believed to be in her 30s, was brought to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee, suffering serious injuries.

The male driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Gardaí were still at the scene last night.

The N86 remained closed and traffic to and from Dingle was being diverted through the Conor Pass.
