A man in his 20s has been killed when the car he was driving hit a roundabout off the M1 motorway in north Dublin and somersaulted into the air before crashing.
Gardaí said the man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was thrown from the vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Beaumont hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The incident occurred at the junction of the M1 motorway and the N1 at Lissenhall at 6.00 p.m. yesterday.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them, in particular the occupants of a dark coloured VW Polo car that slowed down at the scene. This car was driven by a female driver and had a number of passengers.
Witnesses are asked to contact Swords Garda Station on 01-6664700.
The man's death brings the number of people killed on Irish roads this year to 250.
