A man has been jailed for seven years after gardaí found over €350,000 of drugs in a wood following a surveillance operation.
John Merrigan (40), Croneyhorn, Carnew, Co Wicklow, who also had a flat at Neary’s Court in Dublin, pleaded guilty at Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court in Bray yesterday to having cocaine and diazepam tablets for sale or supplying at Knocksink woods, Enniskerry, in May last year.
Garda John Deasy told the court that after they were led to believe that drugs were to be found in the wood, they placed surveillance on the place where they found two plastic bags.
Merrigan, who was on bail when he committed this offence, was in fear of his life and those fears were well founded, Garda Deasy said.
