A man has been jailed for two years by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for assaulting off-duty garda∅ celebrating a stag night at the Shelbourne Park greyhound racing stadium.

Two others were also given jail sentences for their part in the same offence. A fourth accused was acquitted last week.

Anthony Brown (26), of Phibsboro Road, was sentenced to two years and 18 months on two counts of assault and six months for violent disorder.

Joseph Cullen (23) was sentenced to 18 months on one charge of assault and six months for violent disorder. Jeremy Skerritt (23) was given 15 months on one charge of assault and six months for violent disorder. Both are from Oliver Bond Flats, Dublin.

Wesley Keating (23), also of Oliver Bond Flats, was found not guilty of assault and violent disorder.

Judge Patrick McCartan said it was an incident which should never have happened and which left one garda unconscious and another with serious injuries.
