A man (30) was received serious injuries in the incident which occurred at Ronanstown, near Clondlakin, shortly after 8.30pm last night.

Gardai said a lone gunman approached and fired a number of shots at a man (30) as he got out of a car on the driveway of a property in Foxdene Park.

The victim was taken to Tallaght Hospital where his condition is described as being serious.

The scene of the shooting has undergone a forensic examination and investigations into the matter are ongoing.

A Garda spokesman said no arrests had been made in relation to the incident but that a gun had been recovered close to the scene of the crime.

The victim was not named last night but is said to have been from Ballyfermot and an associate of the Corbally brothers, Paul and Kenneth, who were killed in a double gangland execution, in west Dublin in June.
