A north African man charged with terrorism offences after British police raided a high-profile London mosque appeared in court today.
Mr Samir Asli (29) was arrested along with six others after a raid involving 150 police officers at the Finsbury Park Mosque in north London a week ago.
Mr Asli made a brief appearance at Bow St Magistrates Court in central London charged with possessing articles for the suspected preparation, instigation or commission of terrorism acts. He was remanded in custody for another week.
London police said that apart from Mr Asli, only one of the seven initially arrested at the mosque a week ago was still being held under the Terrorism Act.
Police dropped terror allegations against four, but were continuing to hold them on alleged immigration and weapons violations. A fifth was released with no charge.
